Stress Mastery: The Third Key To Health, Happiness And Success

Dr. Mort Orman here and today I want to conclude our brief, three-part series on how to gain greater health, happiness and success in your life.

This series addresses three key masteries that challenge each of us, every single day: self mastery, life mastery, and stress mastery.

In Part 1 of this series, I talked about self mastery skills, such as controlling our thoughts, mastering our emotions, resisting our impulses, and several others.

In Part 2, I talked about life mastery skills, such as knowing what love really is, why our relationships succeed and fail, how money actually works, what it means to have a purpose for your life that fulfills and excites you, and much more.

Today, I’m going to focus on stress mastery skills—how well do you truly understand what stress really is, and how good are you at mastering it?

Stress Mastery: The Third Key Mastery

I listed stress mastery as the third key mastery skill set for being healthier, happier and more successful in life because it depends, in large part, on both self mastery and life mastery expertise.

The more you are in control of your thoughts, in control of your emotions, in control of your focus, and the more you become self-aware and more knowledgeable about yourself as a human being, the less stress you will likely have.

Also the more you understand how the world really works, how reality functions in many different areas of life, especially those areas that challenge most (even well-educated) individuals, the less stress and tension you will have in your life.

So stress mastery necessarily embodies both self mastery and life mastery skills, but it goes even further.

What Is The Truth About Stress?

Stress mastery starts with being able to tell the truth about stress.

Before you can master anything in life, you first have to correctly understand what that “thing” is, and what it is not.

Unfortunately, most people are terribly confused about what stress really is.

Most of us have been lied to repeatedly by pundits, self-help authors, the media, the medical profession, stress management proponents, and many others about what stress really is.

Where Does Stress Really Come From?

We’ve also been repeatedly lied to about where stress actually comes from in our lives.

We’ve been told that it primarily comes from the events and circumstances in our lives—from the external things that happen to us and around us.

This is pure B.S., yet we are all taught to swallow it, and we are also warned not to question its validity.

Yet the truth about stress is that we always contribute to having it, whether we are aware of this or not.

And becoming much more aware of how you do indeed contribute to generating much of your own stress is exactly what stress mastery skills and training is all about.

The Truth About Stress Management

A third thing you must understand, if you want to become good at eliminating most of your stress, is that stress management techniques are not sufficient to get you there.

The truth about stress management is that most of these techniques mainly address just the symptoms of your stressful problems in life.

They do little to help you better understand and deal with the underlying causes of your day-to-day difficulties.

The secret to mastering stress is learning how to make it go away quickly by identifying and then dealing with its underlying causes.

It’s very rare to find this type of stress relief training available today.
